Licensing, and why some programs skip the state

National platforms build their coverage maps around who they have licensed where. If a company has no Connecticut-licensed prescriber on the panel, it cannot take you on, which is why availability differs between otherwise similar programs. You can confirm any clinician's licence through the Department of Public Health's online licence lookup before a first appointment.

Controlled substances are the other common gap. Federal telemedicine flexibilities for prescribing them have been extended more than once and remain unsettled, so many services decline to prescribe stimulants for ADHD or certain sleep medications online at all. Ask directly what a program will and will not prescribe rather than assuming.

Pharmacy rules and compounded medication

Connecticut handles pharmacy oversight through the Department of Consumer Protection's Drug Control Division and the Commission of Pharmacy rather than a stand-alone board, and mail-order pharmacies based elsewhere generally need Connecticut licensure to fill prescriptions for residents here. If a weight-loss or men's health program uses compounded medication (custom-prepared by a licensed pharmacy), ask which pharmacy fills it and whether the product is compounded or the branded, FDA-approved version. Compounded GLP-1 availability shifted nationally after the FDA treated the semaglutide and tirzepatide shortages as resolved, so a program's answer today may differ from last year's.
